Storage as a Service is demand storage solutions with which companies in Romania can get control of storage capacity, distribution and retrieval of data, regardless of where they are. Available on-demand storage solutions allow customers to use the available infrastructure Star Data Center S. scalable depending on the needs at a cost of 0.26 Euro / GB / month (storage solutions for large data volumes, disks at 7200 RPM ) or 0.70 Euro / GB / month (high performance storage solutions, disk at 15,000 RPM). In both storage space is available on SAN storage systems, high performance and availability of partners Star Storage, EMC and Hitachi Data Systems (HDS). Star S. storage solutions include hardware, software and management services, support and technical expertise 24 × 7 × 365, multiple levels of security, SLA based services. "In the current economic climate, purchases of new hardware and software technologies needed to develop their own data storage infrastructure must pass the acid test of the main financial indicators, ROI (Return On Investment) and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). On the other hand, increasing the amount of data stored and the time they should be kept online, high costs of space and facilities to host an IT intrastructuri and compliance with regulations are some of the engines of this new business model - "Storage as a Service".

New Power Efficiency Estimator is designed to help data center center operators compare different scenarios of power topologies and technologies within their facility. It takes factors such as workload, availability, and space constraints, so that they can generate a report to improve decision making in a facility. Energy Efficiency Estimator will be available by the end of the first quarter of 2010. The new PUE Calculator allows data center operators to introduce specific data at specified intervals to determine PUE. Power usage efficiency (PUE) is a measurement that determines the amount of energy used by IT installation and tools within it. PUE Calculator will be available by the end of the first quarter of 2010. This article provides new guidance on how operators can maximize the power of professional datacenter cooling and power savings in a data center environment using virtualization to achieve its consolidation strategy.

Nov. network card for servers

Tuesday, February 9, 2010 By: Gabriel
Category: News

Gone on sale in November appeared network cards, AT-2973SX and AT-2973T, the first network card Allied Telesis portfolio for servers running virtual machines. AT-2973 products improve network efficiency and increasing system performance by sharing the resources. Operating system to create the virtual machine is complex, and while chipsets have seen a radical improvement to cope with the trends of virtualization, further creating a virtual machine is a challenge. Queue mechanism significantly reduces the performance of virtual machines under the CPU solve tasks of assembly and disassembly of incoming messages in a single queue redirecting data to the correct virtual machine. To resolve this minus AT-2973 increases the speed of "throughput" of data received and the distribution process, allowing each virtual machine to establish its own queue. AT-2973SX has two 1000SX fiber ports, and four PCIe NIC virtualization lines, AT-2973T has two 1000T copper ports, PCIe and four lines for virtual NIC. Both network cards are capable of MSI-x (Message Signal Interrupt), offering an alternative method of interrupting host processor to manage multiple queues, one for each virtual machine - thus increasing the usability and scalability. As customers migrate to virtualization technology, they could also use computers as part of storage solutions. AT-2973 v1.0 also supports iSCSI (Internet Small Computer System Interface) and can even be ISER (iSCSI Extension for Remote Direct Memory Access) Host Bus Adapter (HBA), giving them the opportunity to be the main computer (initiator) or storage device (target device) to facilitate data transfers between virtual machines and manage storage over long distances.

Dedicated Hosting - E-commerce server security

Tuesday, January 19, 2010 By: Gabriel
Category: News

Dedicated Hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service, where a server or a whole number of servers are rented by client applications such as e-commerce. This type of hosting is more expensive than shared hosting type, because the company or organization has complete control over the server or servers and can specify what types of hardware and the operating system is desired. In many cases, the supplier takes care of server management, including security issues. Dedicated hosting service providers can offer different levels of support for server management. The first service leaves all client management tasks at hand. Thus, the client will have to deal with all upgrades, patches, maintenance and security tasks. This service is best for customers who have their own IT staff, who can take care of all these things, including server security. Suppliers can also provide different levels of management, from simple monitoring and maintenance in the uppermost if take care of everything and the client should not be involved in the management server. Of course, the upper level of service is most convenient for the customer, but also the most expensive and making adjustments to the system is much more difficult. However, you can compare costs with their staff, unlike rental services provider in terms of management. Security Issues in choosing provider. In general, the choice for dedicated hosting provider should include also the analysis of the type of security services are provided. Attacks against web servers for e-commerce has intensified and hackers are becoming more sophisticated. They were picked to establish their own networks, which have the sole purpose of stealing personal and financial information and that could be sold to the highest bidder on the black market. Prevents theft of data. One of the most serious security threats in terms of web servers for web sites, e-commerce is the possibility of data theft. Therefore, a key issue in security should be considered when choosing dedicated hosting provider is the protection of databases. Some of the malicious activities that should be prevented by security systems include: hijack, SQL injections, vulnerabilities in XML, HTTPS and others, computer worms, cross site scripting, zero-day worms, denial of service, cookie poisoning , buffer overflow, malicious robots, coding illegal, Google hacking, vulnerabilities PROXY, OS attacks, Brute Force Login, disclosure, credit card exposure, phishing, spying and the corruption of data. Conclusions. Security is a very complex problem in hosting the e-commerce. Hackers are becoming more sophisticated security systems must be improved accordingly. Choosing hosting provider Devotion and IT security staff is a critical task
